Fun Friday Winter

Today My husband and I went and did a Fun Friday for my daughter's class. All the children that turn in their homework/reading minutes get to play games for an hour before lunch. This is the 3rd Fun Friday we have done. The others I will have to post later, but this one is the one we did today and it was a hit with 4th graders.

Theme: Winter

Games:
1. Snowman Build. The class was split into two groups. Each group was given a bag of balloons and a roll of packing tape. ( Both of these I got at the dollar store) These are the instructions: You must try to build a taller snowman than the other group. It must be able to stand on it's own. And you MUST WORK AS A TEAM. You have 7 - 10 minutes. GO.

2. Cotton ball snowball fight. Split the group into teams of 2. Each team gets two bowl and 8 cotton balls, 4 for each person. They then kneel across from each other with the bowl at their knees. They cannot reach past their bowl to throw cotton balls or cover their bowl. When I say go you take your cotton balls and try and get them into the other persons bowl. You should pick up and throw the cotton balls on the floor first and then you can throw from the ones in your bowl. You have one minute. Go.
-This one was really fun. We played it twice.

3. Tape Snowballs. I did two balls instead of one so that we could move faster through the games and more turns for everyone. I took candy and small things like erasers and taped them into a ball, layering the goodies and the tape (using scotch tape). Make sure that it is a secure ball or it will fall apart during the game. One player gets the ball, the player next to them gets a set of dice. The person with the dice rolls as fast as they can to get doubles because as soon as they get doubles they pass the dice to the person next to them and get a turn trying to get prizes from the tape ball. Go until the ball is completely unwrapped.

4. Speed Melting. Give each child an ice cube and a towel so the water does't go everywhere. See who can get their ice cube to melt the fastest.
-We had planned to do this one today but forgot the ice cubes at home and we ran out of time.
